  7. Take 1 pinch asafoetida
  8. Prepare 1 tbsp red chilli powder

If skipping potatoes, replace them with capsicum or any other vegetable in the same proportion. This is a Punjabi recipe of making shimla mirch ki sabji. A dry vegetable recipe that has no liquids. Besides the capsicum and potatoes, just a few Indian spice powders are used in this dish.

Instructions to make Capsicum Onion sabji:
  1. Cut the capsicum, onion in medium size pieces.
  2. Heat oil in pan and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, turmeric and asafoetida. Add onions and sauté till it looks transparent. Add capsicum and mix thoroughly. Sauté for 10 minutes with lid, can add little water to avoid burning at bottom.
  3. After 10 minutes, add remaining masala and sauté for 3-4 minutes. Serve with chapati.

A dry vegetable recipe that has no liquids. Besides the capsicum and potatoes, just a few Indian spice powders are used in this dish. No onions, no tomatoes and no ginger or garlic. Add chopped onion and crushed garlic, sauté until onion becomes light pink. Add capsicum and sprinkle salt over it.
